Press conference highlights 5 themes, 4 featured exhibition areas, 3 gaming competitions, more than 100 keynotes and forums; U.S. companies are d&i winners
TAIPEI, Taiwan--(BUSINESS WIRE)--#AI--COMPUTEX 2017, co-organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and the Taipei Computer Association (TCA), officially opens in Taipei on May 30 and will run through June 3 (the InnoVEX exhibit, exclusively for global startups, closes on June 1).
In a pre-show press conference with 300 local and international reporters present, organizers announced 1,600 exhibitors will host a total of 5,010 booths this year. And as of May 26, pre-registered international buyers and visitors increased 10.5 percent year over year.
The positioning of COMPUTEX 2017, “Building Global Technology Ecosystems,” aligns with the dynamics in the global high-tech industry. The event will focus on five themes: AI & Robotics, IoT Applications, Innovations & Startups, Business Solutions, and Gaming & VR. Four featured exhibition areas echo these themes: SmarTEX (IoT solutions in security, automotive electronics, smart home and entertainment, smart tech, and wearables), InnoVEX (one of the largest global startup platforms in Asia), Gaming & VR (featuring high-performance gaming and VR products) and iStyle (showcasing Apple MFi-certified peripherals with great design and aesthetic value).
Demonstrating the diversity of COMPUTEX, this year’s five-day show will feature gaming competitions and activities including the OC World Cup, COMPUTEX Modding Challenge – CyberMods, and ZOTAC CUP MASTERS, helping to shape the future of the global ICT industry.
A first this year, TAITRA, the co-organizer of COMPUTEX, is working with Taiwan’s National Palace Museum to provide an immersive virtual-reality experience at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Hall 1. International conference visitors can use the latest technologies to experience the beauty of oriental culture and arts.
COMPUTEX leads the way with innovations
InnoVEX, one of the featured exhibits at COMPUTEX for innovations and startups, made its debut in 2016. Since, it has become one of the largest startup platforms in Asia. Startup teams can interact, showcase their creative ideas, find partners through matchmaking activities and raise capital. InnoVEX will have a variety of activities, including forums, pitches, demos and matchmaking.
InnoVEX 2017 brings together 272 startups, accelerators and incubation centers from 23 countries/territories, including Taiwan, Korea, France, China, the U.S., Singapore, Israel, Hong Kong, Denmark and India. The event presents an ideal opportunity for global startups to learn from innovative unicorns abroad and gain an understanding of industry trends and ecosystems.
d&i awards showcase international technology innovation at COMPUTEX; U.S. companies recognized as winners
In response to the growing influence of emerging technologies, COMPUTEX d&i awards added three new categories this year: AI, IoT and AR/VR. Six international judges selected 77 winners from 255 products from eight countries, including five gold award winners. All award-winning products will be showcased at Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1, and then will travel to major ICT trade shows internationally. Today, TAITRA and Germany-based iF announced 44 winning companies, including U.S.-based Dell, NVIDIA, Supermicro, DreamWave Audio, Adam Elements, and ZOTAC, along with international winners Asus, Ambi Labs, TPV, ADATA, MSI, CRYORIG, IDEEE Studio, iBASE, Unitech Electronics, and more.
